anew
Alright, then. Yes yes yes. Obligatory retrospective new-year post. Let’s do this thing.
Blah, blah, blah, learned so much. Memories, something something. …phoning it in? Don’t be ridiculous.
Okay, I know. Second glass of sparkling wine. I may be shooting from the hip a bit.
All joking aside. This truly was a fantastical debut year for The Bone Horse. Launched a website and a collection on Etsy, made amazing new friends, carved out a studio space, did some paintings, did laundry… like, at least 8 or 9 times this year, sold some goods, fought doggie cancer with so-far success, learned how to apply gold leaf, bought some more awesome shoes (because I clearly didn’t have any shoes before), and got so so sososo inspired by Los Angeles, by Long Beach, by creative people here, by creative people on the interwebs, by the creative, brilliant, sexy people who consume my content. (Shameless flattery is not a ploy if I actually mean it. So…just…shhhhh.)
Well, here we are, making resolutions and plans. And, oh brother, I wish I could, but I simply can’t muster the self delusion that I’m actually going to eat healthy everyday. I’m going with “general goals” like do more yoga, maybe don’t eat ALL the fries, do I really need 8 denim button-down shirts?, and regular flossing. Because great success and wealth definitely begins with floss. A common denominator of achievers, I am sure of it.
Since I’m just catching up on stuff this week, I decided to throw myself a Bone Horse New Year party tonight. This bottle of beautiful sparkling white from my dearest of friends, this NYE champagne glass with my name scrawled on it from Mom, some brainstorming for the next project, and some gilded luxury… gold on everything! Gold in your hair and on your mind and your lips! Gold because expectations of delight. Gold because a glimmer of hope. Gold because fear and worry are heavy. Gold because it’s all a miracle. All of it.
So after “working” here, I’ve sorted it out. The 2014 Plan: 1. Make stuff. 2. See what works. 3. Do more of what works. 4. Moisturize, a lot. 5. Gold leaf on everything. 6. More dog time. 7. Salad. 8. Choose happy over worry.
Who says I’m not a super savvy adult businesswoman and well-rounded person. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have wine to drink, and teeth to floss.
Cheers to the new year, friends.
